Rarău Ski Slope​

Located in the southern part of Câmpulung Moldovenesc city,  Rarău ski slope is the longest ski slope in the north region of the country and was inaugurated in 2019.

The slope is of medium difficulty and has a length of 2,850 meters, a modern gondola lift and 9 snow cannons. The slope has a northern exposure and is located in an area where the snow does not melt completely until April. In addition, the Rarău ski slope is one of the few in the country that benefits from a nocturne facility, for night skiing.

Suceava Fortress

The Fortress of Suceava is a 14th-century fortification built by ruler Peter Mușat. He built the fortress in order to protect the new Moldavian capital from the threat posed by the Ottoman empire. The fortress served as the residence for some of the most powerful and influential voivodes of Moldavia, such as Stephen the Great, Alexander the Good, Petru Rareș, and Vasile Lupu. The fortress has been the site of some of the bloodiest battles in Moldavia. During the reign of Stephen the Great, new defensive walls were built to fortify the fortress, considering it vulnerable to Ottoman invasions. The citadel holds a full-scale walkthrough museum that takes visitors through different interactive stages of the region’s history, making it a must-see if you’re in the area.

Transrarău

Considered to be the third most beautiful alpine road in Romania, after Transfăgărășan and Transalpina, Transrarău is 28 km long, connects the village of Pojorâta from Chiril and climbs to an altitude of 1,400 m above sea level. Driving on this road is definitely an experience worth trying. As you progress, the landscapes and surroundings become more and more beautiful and spectacular. The road includes miles of stunning scenery. Once you arrive at Rarău Chalet, you will be able to enjoy amazing views from Lady’s Rocks and Hawk’s Stone. At the same time, known as the Treasure Road, Transrarăul is the perfect route for cycling enthusiasts.

Mocănița Huțulca

The narrow-gauge railway from Moldovița was built by a sawmill owner from Munich, Louis Ortieb, and put into use in 1888 for transporting wood from the forest to the sawmill. At present, the line is 12 kilometers long, follows the river “Moldovița” and is mainly used for leisure. The route is between Moldovița and Argel, and takes approximately two and a half hours. During the cold season, the wagons are heated with wood stoves. Mocăniţa Huţulca is today a charming tourist attraction and brings joy both to those who are passionate about steam locomotives, as well as to those who want to relax admiring the beauty of nature. In general, trains depart from Moldovița at 10:00 and 14:00.

Zip-line la Palma

Test your limits and feel the adrenaline. The “La Palma” zip-line is the longest zip line in Romania and in Central Europe on a single segment. The installation has a length of 1.1 kilometers and a difference in level of about 100 meters. The descent speed can reach 100 km/h, and the view takes your breath away. It is definitely the most sought-after adrenaline experience in Bucovina.

Egg Museum

Eggs painting is an ancient habit in the Romanian tradition. The painted eggs are a testimony of Easter traditions, beliefs and customs, representing an element of specifically Romanian spiritual culture. The egg is painted and inked on Thursday and Saturday of Holy Week, the occupation of reddening eggs being reserved almost exclusively for women. The most famous museums in the area are in Moldovița and is owned by the artist Lucia Condrea, who decorated more than 30,000 eggs in her 50 years career, and the Vama Egg Museum, which is the largest museum of its kind in Romania, which gathers more than 11,000 painted eggs. The collection belongs to the artist Letiția Orșivschi, with many international awards, whom you can meet decorating eggs at our store in Bucharest, during Easter holidays.

Marginea Ceramics Center​

Marginea Ceramics is a brand of ceramic typical for the area due to the clay ground in Marginea village, which is a fundamental condition for this craft in which clay, water and fire form a magic triangle from which black ceramics are born. In order to achieve this special color, at some point during the baking in the oven, the artisans close the oven. The moment is known only by them and it cannot be a random one, because the ceramic would no longer be resistant. With the oven closed, the pots will bake in the smoke, and slowly, slowly gives that black color to the pots. The earth from which the pots are made is brought by potters from the outskirts of the village and burned in ovens for about 9 hours so that the black smoke penetrates the pots and thus gives them their characteristic black color. The manufacturing process of black ceramic products takes 3 weeks.

Lucina Horse Stud

In the heart of the mountains, in the middle of the most beautiful landscapes in Bucovina, is the “land of free horses”. It is Lucina horse stud, the largest in the country, which covers 1800 hectares. Established in 1856, originally belonging to the Austro-Hungarian Empire and sheltered between the Obcini of Bucovina, Lucina horse stud is the place where hundreds of Huțuli horses, the only authentic Romanian breed preserved to this day and which is part of the national heritage, run free on the mountain ridges . This breed is found in Romania only at Herghelia Lucina. As well as the Bucovina horse, a utility breed that appeared in 1977, as a result of matings of native breeds carried out at the stud and whose specimens can only be found here. Tourists who arrive at the stud are treated with horse riding sessions, carriage rides and a corner of heaven where they can stroll quietly admiring the incredible scenery.
